Returning this October for a four-day exhibition, Decorex will run from 10-13 October to bring together trade buyers and manufacturers as the premier platform for key designers and suppliers to connect with new and familiar faces, whilst discovering and nurturing new talent and future trends.
With a portfolio of the best names in luxury design and interiors, a return to a physical event at Olympia London is greatly welcomed and, as it has been for the past 43 years, Decorex will once again be the destination to discover unique and new products and collection launches.
Since its inception in 2014, the leading showcase for emerging talents in contemporary British craft, ‘Future Heritage’ continues to be a central feature for Decorex. Founded and curated by renowned arts and design critic and curator Corinne Julius, the bespoke platform encourages designers to produce innovative pieces that push the boundaries of contemporary craft.
In response to a brief set before Decorex, each designer works collaboratively across a diverse range of media to create distinctive, one-off pieces that will be exhibited for the first-time at the show. These pieces showcase the skills the designers use when working on commissioned pieces for both commercial and private clients.
Corinne Julius comments, “Future Heritage started as the central feature at Decorex in 2014 and each year I have selected some of the best of British-based designers and makers to create new work for the show. My selection is based on their ability to produce innovative pieces that push the boundaries of contemporary craft. I also chose people who can work in partnership with commissioning interior designers and architects on their own projects, be they private or public. This year I wanted to be celebratory. I feel we really need some joy and delight, for this year’s show I have chosen makers and designers who celebrate colour and pattern, but who also revel in the power of touch, something most of us have been deprived of during Covid”.
2021 visitors will be invited to discover the best of contemporary craft in the UK today with a showcase of undiscovered talent, pairing traditional craftsmanship skills with contemporary design across an extensive variety of craft disciplines from blacksmithing to digital.
