The opportunity

Since relocating to Olympia in 2017 for its second edition, MPTS has seen rapid growth, drawing audiences from across the media and broadcast production industry. After outgrowing Olympia’s West, Central and National Hall, the show moved into The Grand Hall in 2023. To meet growing demand and keep its highly connected community engaged, MBI continues to evolve with the show’s ambitions. For its biggest edition to date, MBI introduced exploring new show-floor features in 2025 exploring AI and VR, topics gaining momentum across the sector. This expansion prompted organisers to extend the show into The Grand Hall’s upstairs gallery level and Henley Suite, providing both an opportunity and challenge.

Creating success

Working with Olympia’s dedicated event team, event organisers were able to use The Grand Hall’s gallery level and Henley Suite to accommodate their brand-new features and additional meeting and theatre spaces. New features for 2025 included the AI Media Zone (an expansion on the AI Theatre from 2024) and the AI Training (expert-led, paid sessions from FMC). To help drive higher footfall to the venue’s upper level, premium and in-demand sessions were strategically placed on the gallery level, such as the new AI Media Zone, Theatre and AI Training. Dedicated partner lounges and conference sessions were also hosted upstairs in Olympia’s meeting rooms, enabling organisers to carefully optimise the show’s floorplan while expanding their show offering in line with growing needs.

The results

MPTS 2025 was a record-breaking event, drawing 13,000 attendees (an 8.3% increase from 2024). Attendance on the upper levels exceeded expectations with the AI Media Zone Theatre and Media Technology Conference attracting a total of 2,800 visitors, with an additional 130 visitors attending the paid AI training. The Blackmagic Design Seminar Theatre located on the gallery level achieved high attendance, with content running all day. As MPTS marks its 10th anniversary in 2026, it’s set to be the biggest and boldest edition yet. Olympia’s £1.3bn redevelopment also offers an unprecedented chance for the show to grow alongside its venue. The reimagined Olympia will have the scale and ambition to elevate MPTS further, cementing it as a cornerstone of London’s live events scene.

Olympia has played a vital role in supporting the growth of our event. As our audience has grown and expectations have evolved, the venue has flexed to meet our needs – from the central location and accessibility to the flexible spaces and on-the-ground support. Their team understands how we want the show to feel as well as how it needs to function, and that makes a real difference. The redevelopment of Olympia promises to take the venue to the next level, turning it into a true destination for live events – and that aligns perfectly with the spirit of our show. At its heart, our event is about face-to face connection, collaboration and community – and we’re excited that Olympia’s evolution will help us double down on those values as we grow into the future.
