The opportunity

Ceramic Art London’s 20th anniversary came in 2024 and the show’s organisers, Craft Potters Association, wanted it to be their largest fair to date to mark the occasion. The Craft Potters Association was formed in a small shop in Soho back in 1958 and in the twenty years of the London fair the event has not stopped growing. The 2019 event sold twice as many tickets as the 2017 iteration across the three day event. The need to move venue for the anniversary event was clear.

Creating success

Olympia West, with its capacity of 3,000, provided the ideal backdrop to the expanding fair. The venue’s stylish space, with natural daylight and large uninterrupted area gave the organiser the perfect setting. The marketing team at Olympia Events then engaged with the client right from the event being contracted to offer an extra boost to the show, supporting with PR and social media activity to get more eyes on the show ahead of the anniversary event.

The results

91,880 impressions and 3,496 engagements were achieved through Facebook and Instagram campaigns, whilst collaborative PR with the client achieved coverage in Secret London as well as local Hammersmith & Fulham publications. H&F Council shared an exclusive discount with approximately 20,000 recipients with strong take-up from within the west London community. With the show looking fantastic, the doors opened to a record number of visitors with the record number of visitors taking in art from over 115 exhibitors from four different continents. The space enabled for this effortlessly, and the client was delighted with the 3-day event in its new home.

This was our largest ever fair and the new venue allowed us to increase the content and visitor experience. Over a third of our markets in 2024 were new, keeping the fair fresh and exciting for visitors
